Western Bulldogs face criticism from fans after disappointing…

Western Bulldogs star Rory Lobb faced harsh criticism from his own fans following a disappointing performance in Friday night’s 43-point loss to the Brisbane Lions in the AFL. Lobb, who is reportedly considering a move away from the Bulldogs at the end of the season, was the target of backlash from fans after being jeered throughout the match at Marvel Stadium, which ended 17.12 (114) to 10.11 (71) in favor of the Lions.

Reports surfaced last month suggesting that Lobb has fallen out of favor with coach Luke Beveridge and the Bulldogs, possibly leading to his departure from the club. Despite playing only three AFL games for the Bulldogs this year, Lobb was given a chance in the last two weeks due to an injury to forward Aaron Naughton.

However, Lobb’s performance failed to convince fans of his worthiness for a permanent starting role in the team, particularly against the dominant Lions on Friday night. He managed just five disposals and was met with jeers from the crowd nearly every time he touched the ball, leading to his substitution in the final quarter.

Commenting on the situation, ABC’s Tim Hodges described the reception as “unsavoury,” noting that Lobb had a tough night and would be unhappy with how things unfolded. He struggled in contests against Brisbane’s Eric Hipwood, who scored a career-best six goals in the game.

Social media was also abuzz with criticism of Lobb, with fans expressing frustration over his perceived lack of effort and questioning his commitment to the Bulldogs this season, amidst reports that he is seeking a move away from the club.
