The Commanders drafted Daniels in April, hoping the Heisman Trophy winner would become their franchise quarterback.

With a new regime in Washington, head coach Dan Quinn mentioned this week that he has “no great declarations” about who will start in Week 1. The quarterback room includes Marcus Mariota, Jeff Driskel, 2024 undrafted rookie Sam Hartman, and Daniels.

Daniels, 23, played three collegiate seasons at Arizona State and two at LSU. In his final season with the Tigers, he threw for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions, along with 1,134 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. He finished his college career with 12,749 passing yards, 3,307 rushing yards, 89 passing touchdowns, and 20 interceptions in 55 games.

With his rookie contract in place, Daniels heads into training camp ready to compete for the starting job in Washington this summer.
