Auburn Tigers loss Big reasons Eric Winters Joins Football, Baseball Gains Two Key Transfers
Auburn Football Lands 4-Star Safety Eric Winters; Baseball Adds Two Transfers Auburn’s recruiting efforts soared over the weekend as the football program hosted over 10 official visitors, including highly sought-after 4-star safety Eric Winters from Enterprise, Alabama. Following his visit and discussions with the coaching staff, Winters committed to joining the Tigers.
Ranked as the #7 safety in the class of 2025 and the #5 prospect in Alabama, Winters had strong interest from Georgia and Miami. Ultimately, Auburn’s familial atmosphere and the reputation of defensive coordinator Charles Kelly were decisive factors in his decision.
With Winters onboard, Auburn has secured commitments from four of Alabama’s top 10 prospects, boosting the Tigers’ recruiting class to #6 nationally.
In parallel news, Auburn’s baseball program made significant moves in the transfer portal. The Tigers welcomed brothers Sam and Andrew Dutton, both natives of Southside, Alabama and alumni of Westbrook Christian High School.
Sam Dutton, a pitcher, arrives from LSU where he made 57 appearances and started 15 games over three seasons, posting impressive stats including 29 strikeouts in 27.2 innings last season. His addition marks a key acquisition among five new transfers bolstering Auburn’s roster this offseason.
Andrew Dutton, transferring from Birmingham-Southern for his fifth year, brings extensive infield experience after starting 49 games, hitting seven home runs, and leading with a .340 batting average last season for the Panthers.
These additions underscore Auburn’s commitment to strengthening both its football and baseball programs with top-tier talent ahead of the upcoming seasons.
