St. Louis CITY SC Signs Missouri Midfielder John Klein on Short-Term Loan from CITY2
St. Louis CITY SC has announced the signing of Missouri-native midfielder John Klein on a short-term loan agreement from the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro team, St Louis CITY2. Klein will be available for Saturday’s MLS match against FC Dallas, set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT at Toyota Stadium.
Klein, 24, has been a standout performer for CITY2 this season, contributing four goals and two assists in 12 matches. The Columbia, Missouri, native recently recorded a game-tying goal against Colorado Rapids 2 and a game-winning goal versus Tacoma Defiance in consecutive matches. Over the past year and a half, Klein has amassed an impressive 17 goals and six assists in 41 appearances for CITY2.
His contributions have been instrumental in CITY2’s strong performance this season, with the team currently sitting second in the MLS NEXT Pro Supporter Shield standings, boasting a record of 8-2-2 and 27 points.
According to MLS rules, short-term agreements permit clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for various competitions, including MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship, and exhibition matches.
