Auburn secures commitment from elite 2025 safety
Eric Winters, a highly-rated safety from Enterprise (Ala.), has committed to Auburn for the 2025 class, according to reports. Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 53 overall player, No. 5 safety, and No. 5 player from Alabama, Winters adds significant strength to Auburn’s recruiting class.
Initially recruited as a linebacker, Winters received numerous offers but ultimately chose Auburn. The recruitment was led by Charles Kelly, with Auburn linebackers coach Josh Aldridge and head coach Hugh Freeze also playing pivotal roles. Winters is expected to play as a hybrid safety in D.J. Durkin’s defensive scheme.
Reflecting on his decision, Winters highlighted the family atmosphere at Auburn and the coaching staff’s ability to develop versatile players like Derwin James and Jabrill Peppers. Georgia and Miami were also in contention for Winters, but Auburn’s program and community made a lasting impression.
With Winters’ commitment, Auburn’s recruiting class now stands at 15 total commitments, propelling them to No. 6 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings and third in the SEC, behind Alabama and Georgia.
