BREAKING: Baltimore Orioles Set to Acquire Star Relievers in Blockbuster Trade.

With less than 50 days until the MLB trade deadline, former Major League Baseball general manager Jim Bowden identified several potential trade targets for each team. In his latest article for The Athletic (subscription required), Bowden highlighted several names for the Baltimore Orioles to consider.

Echoing the sentiments of many Orioles fans, Bowden emphasized that the team’s primary needs at the upcoming trade deadline are closer/set-up relievers and possibly a right-handed hitting outfielder.

Bowden’s insights align with the Orioles’ history, particularly regarding closer Craig Kimbrel. So, which players does the former GM suggest the Orioles pursue? Some of the names might surprise you.

Orioles Rumors: Baltimore linked to pitchers like Mason Miller, Ryan Helsley, and Camilo Doval

Oakland A’s reliever Mason Miller is often mentioned as the top closer target for the MLB trade deadline. Known for his high strikeout rate and 100-plus mph fastball, Miller would be an ideal addition for the Orioles. However, acquiring him would likely require Baltimore to part with top prospects like Coby Mayo or Jackson Holliday, making such a deal improbable.

Another popular name among Orioles fans is Ryan Helsley. If the St. Louis Cardinals fall out of the NL Central race, they might trade Helsley, a hard-throwing reliever, before the July 30 deadline.

**Possible Targets: Tanner Scott and Dylan Floro**

Bowden also listed Kyle Finnegan and Tanner Scott among potential closers, along with San Francisco Giants reliever Camilo Doval. Although Doval is having an average year, his overall performance is impressive, and he won’t be a free agent until after the 2027 season.

For set-up relievers, The Athletic suggested that the Orioles might consider Dylan Floro from the Washington Nationals or Steven Wilson from the Chicago White Sox.

The Orioles possess the trade assets to make significant deals, and their front office might wait until just before the deadline to finalize any trades. This season is crucial for Baltimore to make a strong push, especially with Corbin Burnes becoming a free agent after this year and the need to outpace the New York Yankees in the AL East.
