Chef Jason Dady Launches Roca & Martillo, Elevating San Antonio Dining with Spurs Partnership
San Antonio‘s culinary landscape just experienced a significant enhancement with the debut of Roca & Martillo, an expansive new dining venue from celebrated chef and restaurateur Jason Dady. Known for shaping the city’s culinary tastes with acclaimed establishments like Tre Trattoria and Two Bros. BBQ Market, Dady’s latest venture occupies a prime spot at The Rock at La Cantera. Spanning 11,000 square feet and accommodating around 300 patrons, Roca & Martillo stands out not only for its size but also for its dynamic partnership with the San Antonio Spurs, as reported by ExpressNews.
Roca & Martillo opened its doors on May 29, offering a fusion of Tuscan flavors with South Texas twists, quickly earning praise for standout dishes like Smoked Brisket Lasagna and Parmigiano Fried Chicken. For a more casual dining experience, the “Per Tutti Noi” menu provides an endless flow of dishes for $50 per person, with a four-person minimum per table. The Spurs’ association is more than thematic; it represents a standard of excellence that Dady is determined to meet. “This is a huge opportunity for us. When your name is associated with the Spurs, you bring your A-game,” Dady told ExpressNews.
With a menu heavily featuring house-made pasta and steaks, including the opulent 4 ½-pound Bisteca Alla Fiorentina, Roca & Martillo pays homage to Dady’s two-decade culinary journey. The restaurant also nods to his former Castle Hills establishment, The Lodge, with familiar dishes that resonate with long-time patrons.
Strategically located at Frost Plaza, Roca & Martillo serves as more than just a dining venue; it aims to be a community hub, mirroring the Spurs’ spirit of unity. Offering indoor and outdoor dining options and a rooftop patio with expansive views, it is designed for gathering, enjoyment, and memory-making. “This new venture is a testament to the strong sense of family and community that defines San Antonio. Our goal is to create a dining experience that brings people together, much like the Spurs have done for our city. This partnership with the Spurs allows us to celebrate our shared values and commitment to excellence. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our table and continue building the culinary legacy of San Antonio and what better way to do that with the family-style dining of Tuscany and Texas traditions,” Dady expressed in a statement obtained by KSAT.
Roca & Martillo operates from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, extending to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with brunch service expected to start mid-June. As the inaugural restaurant at The Rock at La Cantera, which itself celebrated its grand opening last December, Roca & Martillo is poised to become a cornerstone of San Antonio’s dining scene.
