Hawks GM Reveals Plans for 2024 No. 1 Draft Pick

The Atlanta Hawks hold the No. 1 overall pick in this summer’s NBA Draft, offering a prime opportunity to strengthen their roster. While they could use it to trade for a veteran, GM

confirmed they plan to keep the pick.

“We’re really excited about the draft,” Fields said via the Associated Press. “The more we learn, the more we appreciate having the No. 1 pick. I joke that I’m not giving it back. We’re in a great position, and I’m excited.”

The Hawks surprised everyone by winning the NBA Draft Lottery last month with only a 3% chance after finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 36-46 record in the 2023-24 season.

Hawks GM Landry Fields is taking calls but insists plan is to keep No. 1 pick

Now, the Hawks are thoroughly preparing for the 2024 Draft, aiming to select a player who fits their long-term plans.

Potential top picks include Alex Sarr, Zaccharie Risacher, and Donovan Clingan. The choice may depend on offseason trades. If Clint Capela is traded, Sarr or Clingan could strengthen the frontcourt. If De’Andre Hunter is moved, Risacher might be the pick.
