Newcastle Pursues Prominent Sporting €80m Star.
For the past few months, Portuguese media has consistently reported Sporting’s intention to sell Ousmane Diomande, acknowledging the defender’s fluctuating form but noting the potential for a significant transfer.
Newcastle United has frequently been linked as a possible destination for the Ivorian defender, although the Magpies have yet to make an official bid.
Recent developments suggest Diomande’s departure from Sporting could be progressing. According to Record newspaper, the player has changed agents, moving from Prosport International to ROOF. ROOF, known for representing clients primarily in Germany and England, now handles Diomande’s affairs.
Newcastle is once again mentioned in connection with Diomande, with Record indicating that he remains on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle.
Despite Diomande’s €80m release clause, Sporting is reportedly open to selling him for €60m, especially given reduced interest following a downturn in his recent performances.
Should Newcastle decide to pursue negotiations, it’s speculated they could secure his services for an even lower fee.
