On Monday, the Boston Red Sox reinstated utility player Romy Gonzalez from the 10-day injured list before their series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays.

With Gonzalez rejoining the team, infielder Jamie Westbrook was sent down to Triple-A Worcester.

Gonzalez was placed on the IL on June 2 after suffering a left hamstring strain on May 31. The 27-year-old has played in 17 games for the Red Sox, hitting .257 with six RBIs. He primarily started at shortstop but also played one game at first base.
