West Ham United have expressed solid interest in acquiring Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman, as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Kilman, who has emerged as a key figure at Wolves and is frequently their captain, has earned high praise from Conor Coady for his performances. Julen Lopetegui, West Ham’s new manager, has previously worked with Kilman during their time together at Molineux and is keen to bring him to the London Stadium.
The Hammers are actively seeking a new centre-back following the confirmation of Angelo Ogbonna’s departure at the end of his contract. According to Romano, discussions have already begun with Wolves, although securing Kilman’s transfer could prove challenging as Wolves are reluctant to let go of the talented defender.
Reports indicate that Wolves may demand around £40 million for Kilman, while West Ham is considering a potential £35 million bid. With uncertainties surrounding Nayef Aguerd’s future, Lopetegui is eager to bolster his defensive options ahead of the 2024/2025 season, especially given his preference for a three-centre-back system.
Additionally, West Ham has been monitoring Hull City’s Jacob Greaves as another potential defensive reinforcement, with the young left-footed centre-back impressing during his time in the Championship.
