Edmonton Elks Sign Receiver Frederik Antoine, Release Fullback Bruno Lagacé

The Edmonton Elks have bolstered their receiving corps by signing National receiver Frederik Antoine to the practice roster, as announced by the club on Tuesday. The addition of Antoine, a promising young talent, is part of the team’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their lineup for the 2024 CFL season.

Antoine, 26, enters the Elks organization after being selected by the Montreal Alouettes in the fifth round, 47th overall, of the 2024 CFL Draft. Despite his initial selection, the Quebec native was released by the Alouettes in early June after participating in their training camp and appearing in one preseason game.

During his collegiate career at Laval University, Antoine demonstrated his potential as a reliable receiver. Over two seasons (2022-23) with the Rouge et Or, he amassed 29 receptions for 330 yards and one touchdown across 13 games. His contributions were pivotal in Laval’s successful 2022 campaign, which culminated in a Vanier Cup championship.

In a corresponding move, the Elks have announced the release of National fullback Bruno Lagacé. The decision to part ways with Lagacé reflects the team’s strategic adjustments as they look to optimize their roster for upcoming challenges.

The Edmonton Elks are set to return to practice on Tuesday, focusing on preparations for their away game against the Toronto Argonauts scheduled for Saturday, June 22. As the Elks gear up for this critical matchup, the inclusion of Frederik Antoine adds depth and versatility to their receiving unit, potentially providing a new dynamic to their offensive strategy.

Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how Antoine integrates into the Elks’ system and contributes to their pursuit of success in the CFL this season.
