Three-Star Running Back Commits to Baylor for 2026
Baylor secured its first commitment for the 2026 recruiting class late Friday night when Davis Penn, a three-star running back from Southlake (Tex.) Carroll, announced his decision to join the Bears.
Less than a week after receiving an offer from Baylor’s running backs coach Khenon Hall during a camp hosted by the program, Penn expressed his eagerness to join Baylor’s upcoming recruiting class without delay, according to BearsIllustrated.
During his sophomore year at Southlake Carroll, Penn earned recognition as the District 6A-4 Newcomer of the Year after tallying 1,594 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns. He achieved over 100 rushing yards in eight games, showcasing his consistent performance throughout the Dragons’ 2023 season.
In addition to his standout football achievements, Penn has emerged as a top track athlete in Texas, recording an impressive 11.79 seconds in the 100-meter dash this past spring. His freshman year saw him achieve a personal best of 11.73 seconds in the same event.
Set to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Addison Penn, an all-state offensive lineman at Carroll who signed with Duke in 2020, Penn has chosen Baylor over offers from Wisconsin, Arizona State, Toledo, and Texas State. He currently ranks as the nation’s 25th-ranked running back according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
