Having committed to another three-year stint with the Dolphins, Waddle’s extension underscores his integral position in Miami’s plans through the 2028 season, valued at $84.5 million.
As Waddle transitions into a leadership role, he emphasizes the importance of passing on his experiences to the younger players on the roster. The Dolphins fortified their receiving corps in the 2024 NFL Draft by selecting Malik Washington from the University of Virginia in the sixth round and Tahj Washington with their seventh-round pick (241st overall). “It’s exciting,” Waddle remarked. “We’ve got speed and talent all over the field. We track speed in practices and games, pushing each other to excel and claim that fastest player crown each week.”
The Dolphins’ emphasis on speed has translated into tangible results, with the team recording six of the top-10 fastest runs in the NFL during the 2023 season. Tyreek Hill, known for his blazing speed, led the pack with a remarkable 22.1 mph sprint.
