Breaking News: Texas Athletics Unveils Revamped Longhorn Network

Texas Longhorns fans will see their hopes fulfilled with the launch of a new version of the Longhorn Network, as announced by the university. Following Texas’s entry into the SEC in July 2021, and with SEC Network already part of ESPN’s extensive network lineup, many expected the original Longhorn Network to cease operations, as SEC teams are typically not permitted to maintain individual networks.

Throughout the year, the network bid emotional farewells to its broadcast crews, leaving fans uncertain about future content access. However, the University of Texas has revealed plans for a revamped Longhorn Network set to debut on July 1.

University President Jay Hartzell highlighted Texas’s academic and athletic excellence, emphasizing the new network’s role in showcasing achievements and facilitating content creation through partnerships with Learfield and Endeavor Streaming.

Powered by Endeavor Streaming and Learfield Studios, the reimagined network will feature original programming and live content from all 21 Longhorns Athletics programs. While live sporting events remain under SEC rights, the network will provide exclusive original content such as highlights, behind-the-scenes access, interviews, game replays, analysis, and coach shows.

It will also include features like post-game press conferences and live football stat casts with play-by-play from the Longhorn Radio Network.

Chris Del Conte, UT Vice President and Athletics Director, expressed enthusiasm for the platform as Texas transitions into the SEC, ensuring it serves as a suitable outlet for showcasing the athletics department’s narrative.

Originally launched in 2011 through a collaboration between ESPN, the University of Texas, and Learfield, the Longhorn Network has been a continuous source of 24/7 Texas Longhorns coverage, occasionally broadcasting smaller university sports events.

The new Longhorn Network service will be accessible on mobile devices, tablets, computers, and all major TV streaming devices starting July 1.
