Knicks Could Pull Off Major Trade This Offseason.
The New York Knicks, one of the best teams at the end of the season, were expected to reach the Eastern Conference Finals. However, injuries hindered their progress.
Heading into the offseason, the Knicks have a clear star in Jalen Brunson, along with numerous picks and salary flexibility to acquire another star, whether or not they keep Julius Randle.
NBA insider Marc Stein suggests they could be in the market for Paul George (via NBA Central).
According to sources, the Knicks are a potential landing spot for the former Indiana Pacers swingman, who is rumored to be considering opting out of his contract or seeking a trade.
The inability of Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers to reach an agreement has led many to believe he is ready to leave Steve Ballmer’s team.
Although George has been more available than Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers do not seem to value him as highly as his co-star, and several teams would eagerly welcome him.
For weeks, the Philadelphia 76ers have been seen as the most likely destination if George leaves California, but the Knicks are one of the few teams capable of outbidding them.
However, this may depend on whether the Knicks can re-sign OG Anunoby, as acquiring George could otherwise create a positional conflict.
