The Oregon Ducks basketball program revealed a striking new look for Kilkenny Court at Matthew Knight Arena, set to debut in the upcoming 2024-25 season. The updated design marks a significant overhaul, featuring several notable changes aimed at enhancing both aesthetics and symbolism.
Gone are the controversial tan and brown shades of the trees around the court’s perimeter, which have been replaced with a more subdued and cohesive palette of light greens. This redesign, inspired by over 270 photographs of Northwest trees, reflects a meticulous effort by designers Todd and Quinn Van Horne of Van Horne Brands.
Central to the new court is an enlarged and more vibrant “O” logo at midcourt, now presented in a deeper green to increase visibility on television broadcasts. Adding to the visual impact are the prominent Big Ten (“B1G”) logos positioned within the key areas beneath the free throw lines, underscoring Oregon’s inaugural season in the conference.
Along each baseline, brightly emblazoned phrases “Mighty Oregon” and “Fighting Ducks” in vivid yellow further reinforce the team’s spirited identity. The sideline proudly declares Oregon as being “Deep in the Woods,” paying homage to the program’s longstanding connection to its lush Pacific Northwest surroundings.
Notably, the new court design also incorporates subtle tributes to Matthew Knight, the arena’s namesake and son of Nike co-founder Phil Knight. Additionally, a shamrock with a Duck’s foot symbolizes the “Lucky Duck” foundation, an initiative close to the hearts of Stephanie and Pat Kilkenny.
The unveiling of this revamped court marks a bold step forward for Oregon basketball, blending modern aesthetics with heartfelt tributes, all set to resonate with players, fans, and viewers alike throughout the upcoming season.
