Panthers Utility Set to Retire After 2024 NRL Season

Panthers and former NSW Blues utility Tyrone Peachey has announced his retirement from the NRL at the conclusion of the current season, citing family priorities as the driving force behind his decision.

The 32-year-old, who has predominantly featured in reserve grade this year with just two appearances off the bench, believes it’s the appropriate moment to hang up his boots after a 12-season career.

Peachey expressed his sentiments on his podcast, stating, “I’ve been battling through some personal challenges and found myself not fully committed to football.” Despite making 15 first-grade appearances last season and being linked to South Sydney recently, his limited game time in 2024 led him to conclude that it’s time to move on.

He acknowledged the difficulty in coming to this decision, particularly in discussing it with his family, but emphasized his desire to provide stability for his children as they establish long-lasting friendships.

Beyond football, Peachey has been actively involved in his business ventures, notably Nanima Care, an Indigenous transport company, and plans to continue his community-focused endeavors post-retirement.
