Knicks Secure Indiana Forward, 26, in Blockbuster $212.5 Million Deal
OG Anunoby, the 6-foot-7 forward, is poised to finalize a five-year, $212.5 million agreement to remain with the New York Knicks, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski. This substantial deal will elevate Anunoby’s career earnings in the NBA to approximately $274.3 million, based on salary data.
During the past season, Anunoby earned $18.6 million while splitting his appearances between the Toronto Raptors (27 games) and the Knicks (23 games). His season was marked by challenges, including an elbow injury and subsequent hamstring issues encountered during the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers. Anunoby was traded to the Knicks on December 30, 2023.
This new agreement ensures that Anunoby will bypass free agency this July, according to Wojnarowski.
Drafted 23rd overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2017 NBA Draft after a stint with the Indiana Hoosiers, Anunoby, who turns 27 on July 17, has steadily made his mark in the league despite setbacks, including a shortened sophomore season due to injury after playing AAU basketball for Team Thad. His high school career began at Jefferson City High School in Missouri.
Anunoby’s journey from AAU basketball to collegiate play under former Indiana coach Tom Crean underscores his resilience and determination in professional basketball.
