Maryland Football Secures Two 3-Star Defensive Recruits
Maryland football secured commitments from two three-star defensive players on Friday: local cornerback Jayden Shipps and linebacker Travares Daniels II.
Shipps, along with his high school teammate and four-star quarterback Malik Washington, announced their commitment to the Terps during a 247Sports livestream. Daniels shared his decision on X.

Shipps, standing at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, attends Archbishop Spalding in Severn, Md. He is ranked as the No. 86 cornerback in his class and the No. 26 player in Maryland by the 247Sports Composite.
Shipps and Washington led the Cavaliers to their second consecutive Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship. Shipps also had offers from NC State, Michigan State, and Virginia.

Daniels, listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, attends St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He is ranked as the No. 81 linebacker in his class and the No. 105 player in Florida according to the 247Sports Composite. Daniels also received offers from Colorado, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.
With Shipps and Daniels joining, Maryland’s 2025 recruiting class now includes 15 players, featuring one cornerback and two linebackers.
