Nebraska Offers Scholarship to 32-Year-Old Auburn Commit
Carde Smith, a 6-foot-5 offensive tackle from Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama, who had previously committed to Auburn University, has announced receiving a scholarship offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Smith made the decision to decommit from Auburn on Thursday, citing it as a difficult choice after careful consideration and prayer.
“I have decided to decommit from Auburn University. This was a very hard decision for me and my family,” Smith expressed in a statement, thanking Auburn’s coaching staff for their efforts in recruiting him and asking for respect regarding his decision.
Despite committing to Auburn in April, Smith’s decommitment was not unexpected, given his extensive list of 28 offers, including a recent visit to the USC Trojans.
Nebraska’s offer to Smith is recent, and it remains unclear whether he will schedule an official visit with the Huskers. The Nebraska Class of 2025 is actively working to coordinate a potential visit with Smith.
