Following his achievement in leading the LSU gymnastics team to its inaugural national championship this spring, coach Jay Clark has earned recognition at the state level.
On Friday, Clark was honored as the Louisiana Collegiate Coach of the Year by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Clark, who previously served as head coach at Georgia from 2009-2012 and as an assistant at LSU from 2013-2019, took over as the Tigers’ head coach following D-D Breaux. Under Clark’s guidance, LSU has advanced to the Four on the Floor in consecutive seasons and secured their first-ever national title this year.

LSU’s gymnastics championship stands as the sole national title from the 2023-24 athletic calendar.
Despite facing the departure of key members from this year’s squad, notably standout Haleigh Bryant, LSU is expected to remain competitive on the national stage with the return of promising young talent.
