Auburn Tigers Update: Linebacker Decommits, Key Player Inducted into Hall of Fame

On Friday afternoon, 4-star linebacker Tyler Lockhart revealed on social media that he is decommitting from the Auburn football program and reopening his recruitment. Hailing from Winona, Mississippi, Lockhart is ranked as the #19 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class and is the #5 prospect from his state.

Lockhart’s decommitment followed his visit to Mississippi State, where his brother plays. His commitment to Auburn was unexpected in May, as he had been leaning towards the Bulldogs, and it appears the in-state program is causing him to reconsider.

Despite losing two commits recently, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class remains in the top 10 nationally with 14 commitments.

Bo Jackson Joins Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame

Over the weekend, Auburn icon Bo Jackson was inducted into the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame. Jackson, a dual-sport athlete from Auburn, was initially drafted as the first overall pick by Tampa Bay in the 1986 NFL Draft after winning the Heisman Trophy in 1985. However, he chose to sign with the Royals, who selected him in the fourth round of the 1986 First-Year Player Draft. The induction ceremony took place before the Royals’ American League game against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.

“Thank you, Kansas City,” Jackson said during his induction, as reported by AL.com. “I wouldn’t be me without you.”

Jackson played five seasons with the Royals, hitting 32 home runs and driving in 105 RBIs in the 1989 season. He is the 30th member of the Royals Hall of Fame.
