The USC Trojans’ recruiting class faced several setbacks in June, with numerous top commits either switching to other schools or reopening their recruitment. However, on Sunday, Lincoln Riley and the Trojans received a boost with the addition of a new recruit.

Following two crucial weekends filled with visits from top prospects, Sunday’s commitment is anticipated to be the beginning of a series of new recruits. This new commitment also addresses a key position that USC has been actively targeting based on their recruitment interests.

The USC Trojans’ recruiting class encountered several challenges in June, as many top commits either decommitted or chose other schools. However, Lincoln Riley and the Trojans received a morale boost on Sunday with the addition of a new recruit.

After two significant weekends packed with visits from top prospects, Sunday’s commitment is expected to mark the start of a wave of new recruits. This latest addition also fills a crucial position that USC has been actively pursuing based on their recruitment priorities.

While there may not be a clear path to playing time as a freshman, Riley’s offenses have always been pass-friendly, with several of his former pass-catchers now in the NFL. Although other schools will likely attempt to flip Simms in the coming months, he has long been considered a strong lean towards the Trojans, especially after being recruited by Dennis Simmons.
