Breaking News: Notre Dame to Deepen Heartache with 4-Star Commit

It’s been a while since the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team secured a major commitment, but that drought is about to end. When it does, many Irish fans will find extra satisfaction.

Four-star safety JaDon Blair is set to announce his commitment on July 5, extending the Independence Day celebrations for some fans. Independence is especially significant for Notre Dame, which remains unaffiliated with any conference.

Notre Dame has long been considered the favorite to land Blair, though there were hints that the Michigan Wolverines were gaining ground. However, that momentum seems to have faded, as even a Michigan recruiting analyst now predicts Blair will choose Marcus Freeman’s team.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Add Insult to Injury with 4-Star Commit

EJ Holland, a former Notre Dame recruiting analyst who switched to the Wolverines, appears to harbor some resentment. He even referred to Fighting Irish recruits as “weird” in a message board post that went viral last month.

However, Holland has also made the latest prediction that Blair will end up in South Bend.

This prediction aligns with other recent experts who have all forecasted that the Golden Domers will secure one of the top safeties in the 2025 class.

If these predictions hold true, it would be a significant boost for a program that hasn’t had a commitment since Mark Zackery’s on May 25. This dry spell has caused Notre Dame to drop to 6th in the latest On3 rankings, with similar standings on Rivals and 247Sports.

Fending off teams like Penn State and Michigan for Blair’s commitment is just the icing on the cake.
