Highly Rated Defensive Lineman Commits to Purdue Over Badgers

The Wisconsin Badgers faced a setback on Tuesday as 2025 three-star defensive lineman Drayden Pavey announced his commitment to Purdue. Pavey, a native of Ohio, had narrowed his choices to Wisconsin, Purdue, and Indiana, ultimately choosing the Boilermakers after taking official visits to all three schools.

Standing at 6’3” and weighing 305 pounds, Pavey was a coveted target for the Badgers’ interior defensive line. Wisconsin offered him a scholarship back in April and quickly scheduled an official visit, hoping to add his talents to their 2025 class. Despite drawing significant interest from defensive line coach E.J. Whitlow, the Badgers were unable to secure a commitment from the Ohio native.

Currently, Wisconsin’s 2025 class includes two defensive linemen: Torin Pettaway and Wilnerson Telemaque. The coaching staff had hoped to add a third player to this group, but with Pavey’s decision, that addition seems unlikely with the current board of official visitors.

Overall, the Badgers have amassed 22 commits in their 2025 recruiting class. While missing out on Pavey is a disappointment, the program continues to build a strong foundation for the future.
