**SAN JOSE, Calif.** – The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that the Warriors and 76ers have agreed to a sign-and-trade deal sending Buddy Hield to Golden State. According to Charania, the Warriors are trading a 2031 second-round pick from Dallas for Hield, a top 3-point shooter in the league.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski adds that Golden State will sign Hield for $18 million over two years, with a $3 million partial guarantee for a third year and a player option for a non-guaranteed fourth year. Hield, 31, boasts a career 40% from beyond the arc and averaged 12.1 points per game last season with the Pacers and Sixers.

Known for his high-volume shooting, Hield has ranked in the NBA’s top 10 for 3-point attempt rate since 2017-18, placing seventh last season with 12.6 attempts per 48 minutes played.

Despite shooting 38.6% from 3-point range last year, Buddy Hield lost the trust of Philadelphia’s coaching staff and was excluded from the playoff rotation, even when the 76ers needed more spacing. Hield is considered a poor defender and offers little off the dribble.

He is expected to provide wing depth for Golden State, which needs more perimeter shooting after Klay Thompson’s departure.

The Warriors’ wing depth chart is now crowded with Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, De’Anthony Melton, Kyle Anderson, Gary Payton II, Lindy Waters III, and Hield. If Hield makes $9 million in 2024-25, the Warriors will exceed the luxury cap but remain below the first apron, where they are hard-capped. His salary allows flexibility for future trades. The Warriors will be Hield’s fifth team in nine seasons.
