Kemba Walker, a veteran point guard, has decided to retire from his NBA career after more than a decade. This announcement has sparked interest from former champion Dwight Howard, who made an intriguing offer to the former Charlotte Hornets superstar.
Walker, a four-time NBA All-Star and the leading scorer in Charlotte Hornets history, announced his retirement from professional basketball. Over his 12 seasons in the NBA, Walker played for the Hornets, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Dallas Mavericks.
Beginning with a successful college stint at the University of Connecticut, where he led his team to a national championship in 2011, Walker was drafted by the Bobcats (now the Hornets) in 2011. He went on to earn three All-Star nods with the Hornets and an additional selection with the Celtics in 2019-20.
In recent years, Walker faced challenges due to injuries, particularly with knee problems, limiting his playing time. He appeared in just 37 games with the Knicks in 2021-22 and 9 games with the Mavericks last season.
Walker expressed deep gratitude for basketball and the experiences it afforded him in his retirement announcement. He now plans to transition to a new role as a player enhancement coach under new Hornets head coach Charles Lee.
As the Hornets’ leading scorer of all time, Walker leaves a significant legacy and is remembered as a beloved figure and four-time All-Star in Charlotte and throughout the NBA.
