£50m Star Reveals Premier League Transfer Choice Following Newcastle United Discussions and Agreement on Five-Year Contract
The 22-year-old winger decided to leave Crystal Palace and the Premier League, choosing to join Bundesliga giants and six-time Champions League winners Bayern Munich under the new management of Vincent Kompany.
Last month, Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, and Chelsea were all given permission to negotiate with Olise’s representatives. Although Chelsea had previously agreed on personal terms with the player, they were once again unable to finalize the deal, allowing Bayern Munich to swoop in and secure his signature. Manchester United also showed interest and considered hijacking the deal, which was delayed due to Palace’s sell-on percentage, but it was ultimately completed on Sunday, July 7.
With numerous clubs vying for his talents, Olise was asked why he chose Bayern Munich over the others. He explained, “Talks with Bayern were very positive. I am very happy to be playing for such a big club. It’s a big challenge, exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and win titles.”
Olise leaves Crystal Palace after scoring 16 goals in 90 appearances for the South London club, including an impressive 10 goals in 19 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.
Newcastle United had identified Olise as an ambitious summer signing to strengthen their right-wing position. With his move to Bayern Munich, Newcastle will now need to explore other options, especially after the recent appointment of Paul Mitchell as sporting director.
