Michigan Football in Final Phase of Pursuit for Elite 4-Star TE

Andrew Olesh

After a sluggish start, the Michigan Wolverines’ 2025 recruiting class is gaining momentum, reflecting a strategic push by the coaching staff to solidify their future lineup. Among the pivotal moments in this resurgence is the impending decision of four-star tight end Andrew Olesh, who is set to announce his college commitment on Monday. Olesh’s choice could mark a significant boost for Michigan’s recruiting efforts as they look to secure one of the nation’s top prospects.

Olesh, a standout in the 2025 class, has narrowed his choices to four powerhouse programs: Michigan, Alabama, Florida, and Penn State. Having taken official visits to each school, Olesh emphasized the importance of the environment and the sense of community he felt during his trips.

“At each school, I was looking at the environment, how I feel around the people and if it feels like a second home,” Olesh shared with On3. “I want to feel comfortable wherever I go. It doesn’t really matter where the school is located. I am looking for a place that feels like home.”

For Michigan, the potential addition of Olesh would be a notable win, particularly given their utilization of the tight end position. Olesh has been vocal about his admiration for Michigan’s offensive schemes, which prominently feature tight ends, often deploying 13 personnel packages that allow for multiple tight ends on the field.

“I like how Michigan uses their tight ends,” Olesh said. “They’re about to produce a first-round draft pick at tight end in Colston Loveland and I feel like I can replace him and go in there and play considerably early. That is one of the reasons why I would want to go to Michigan. They use a lot of tight ends and sometimes use 13 personnel, which is great. Since they have a lot of tight ends on the field, that means I could potentially get more playing time if I go there. Coach Moore is easily one of my favorite coaches because he’s always contacting me daily. He’s either calling me or texting me to check in on me. He feels like family.”

The Wolverines’ recruiting fortunes have notably improved in recent weeks, and landing Olesh would further elevate their class ranking. Currently, Olesh is the 84th ranked prospect in the 2025 class according to 247 Sports, and his commitment is anticipated to have a ripple effect, potentially attracting other high-caliber recruits to Ann Arbor.

According to several crystal ball predictions, Michigan is favored to secure Olesh’s commitment, which would not only enhance their roster but also signal to other recruits the program’s upward trajectory and its commitment to competing at the highest level.

As Monday approaches, the excitement around Michigan’s recruiting efforts continues to build. A commitment from Andrew Olesh would be a testament to the coaching staff’s relentless pursuit of top talent and their ability to create an environment where players feel at home. For Michigan fans, the anticipation is palpable, and all eyes will be on Olesh as he makes his highly anticipated decision.
