Texas Longhorns’ Five-Star OT Prospect Sets Commitment Date

The Texas Longhorns are looking for a significant recruiting win after losing five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore to Oregon last week.

However, the Horns seem to be in a strong position with one of their top targets, and his decision is approaching soon.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Friday, five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi from Lewisville (TX) announced his commitment date. He will decide among Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Missouri on August 21.

Fasusi is drawn to the Longhorns primarily because of his strong relationship with the coaching staff.

“I really like Texas; I’ve visited there many times, and they always impress me and my family. We always feel welcomed and never have a negative experience,” Fasusi said. “Coach Flood is someone I believe can definitely help me reach my goal of making it to the NFL. Coach Sark also stays in touch with me and my family, showing support, so my affection for Texas is strong.”

Currently, Fasusi is ranked as the No. 12 player nationally, the No. 3 offensive tackle, and the No. 5 player in Texas according to the On3 Industry Ranking. ESPN and Rivals.com rate him as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 9 overall player.

The Lewisville native visited Austin for an official visit from June 21-23 and is also considering a trip to see the Oregon Ducks in the near future.

“It was great,” Fasusi told On3’s Steve Wiltfong this summer. “I appreciated the resources and everything Texas football and Austin have to offer. We had numerous meetings and presentations, and I can see the vision they have, as well as the educational opportunities.”

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Texas is the leading contender with a 63.4 percent chance.
