Orlando City SC and midfielder Dagur Dan Thórhallsson have solidified their partnership, agreeing to a new contract that will keep the Icelandic talent in the City Beautiful through 2026, with a Club option extending to 2027. This move signifies the club’s commitment to retaining key players and building a strong foundation for future success.
“Since Dagur has arrived at the Club, he has proven himself to be someone who is adaptive and versatile in all situations, showing a willingness to do whatever the team requires of him in any scenario,” said EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi. “His dedication to hard work and to his teammates is visible every day. He’s a consummate professional, both on and off the pitch, and we’re excited to have him representing our Club for the foreseeable future.”
Thórhallsson joined the Lions ahead of the 2023 season from Breiðablik UBK of the Icelandic Besta deild karla, Iceland’s top division. Since then, the 24-year-old midfielder has made 40 starts in 65 appearances across all competitions for the Club, tallying four goals and providing seven assists. His adaptability and consistency have made him an integral part of Orlando City’s squad.

Thórhallsson’s international experience further underscores his value. The Hafnarfjörður, Iceland native broke into the Icelandic National Team in 2022, making his senior international debut on November 6, 2022, in a friendly against Saudi Arabia. He has since totaled five appearances for the senior side. Since debuting for Iceland’s U16 squad in 2016, he has accumulated 34 appearances across all age groups and tallied two goals.
