Yankees’ Jaw-Dropping Trade Proposal: Elite Prospect Swapped for Marlins’ Star Players

The New York Yankees’ plans for the trade deadline remain uncertain, but one MLB analyst has proposed a surprising deal.

In a mock trade suggested by John Coppolella of Yahoo Sports, the Yankees would part with their top prospect in exchange for the Miami Marlins’ three biggest trade assets.

The hypothetical trade involves the Yankees sending Jasson Dominguez and “two non-top-20 prospects” to the Marlins for Jazz Chisholm, Tanner Scott, and Josh Bell.

While it would take a significant offer for the Yankees to trade Dominguez, this deal might not be sufficient. Reports indicate they have “no desire” to trade Dominguez at the deadline.

The Yankees are reportedly interested in Chisholm, especially since he recently moved to second base. Scott is another potential target for the Yankees, but their interest in Bell remains uncertain, as his 77 OPS+ suggests he wouldn’t be an offensive upgrade over rookie Ben Rice.

Trading Dominguez, seen as a future outfield cornerstone, for a rental relief pitcher and a former All-Star with league-average hitting over the past two seasons is questionable.

The Yankees need to make a move at the deadline, and a deal involving Chisholm and Scott should be considered. However, parting with Dominguez for this type of package likely isn’t worth it.

With the July 30 deadline approaching, the speculation and trade proposals will soon come to an end, but it’s hard to imagine the Yankees agreeing to this kind of deal.
