With the 2024 college football season set to begin in less than a month, the LSU Tigers are facing uncertainty regarding sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano. Reports indicate that Toviano has been arrested and subsequently suspended by the team.
LSU released an official statement regarding Toviano’s suspension:
“The student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities in accordance with departmental policies. We will not provide further comment out of respect for the legal process.”
According to arrest records, Toviano has been charged with video voyeurism. He is accused of secretly recording himself engaging in sexual acts with a victim without their consent. The victim reported finding two videos on Toviano’s iPad, and authorities later discovered three videos after executing a search warrant. These recordings are alleged to have been made between July 5-6, 2024.
Investigators have confirmed the identities of both Toviano and the victim from the videos. Toviano is currently detained at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison awaiting trial.
