“Auburn Tigers Eye Anquon Fegans as the Crown Jewel of Their Recruiting Dynasty”

If Auburn Tigers fans are following the recruiting buzz, 4-star recruit Anquon Fegans is expected to soon commit to Auburn.

On3 has predicted that the versatile defensive back from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, will choose Auburn over several other programs.

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze is poised to fend off fierce competition from Georgia, Clemson, and LSU for the talented 6-foot-2, 185-pound defender, a move that would revitalize their recruiting efforts.

Currently, Fegans is the second-highest ranked in-state senior yet to commit for the 2025 cycle, and he is feeling the pressure.

“I may seem relaxed, but the process can be exhausting,” Fegans told al.com. “I want to make a decision before my senior season.”

Last season, Fegans was disappointed to miss out on a state title with the Warriors, but his standout performances caught the attention of major schools.

With seven interceptions and 11 pass breakups last season, Fegans plans to announce his college choice on July 29th before returning to Alabaster for his senior season.

“We didn’t win a state championship last year,” Fegans said via al.com. “That’s one of my goals this year. I also want to win Back of the Year and help my teammates improve as we strive for our goals.”

Fegans’ versatility makes him a highly coveted prospect. While he projects as a safety at Auburn, he also played cornerback for his high school coach, Mark Freeman.

Tigers defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, known for his aggressive play-calling, appealed to Coach Freeze when he hired him and will similarly attract Fegans.

“I’ve always been impressed with his schemes and game plans,” Coach Freeze said upon hiring Durkin in January. “Texas A&M’s defense was fast, physical, and well-coached. We are excited to have DJ Durkin join our staff here at Auburn.”

Adding a ball-hawking player like Fegans makes football sense for Auburn, and the presence of his brother, Antwon, on the Tigers squad gives Auburn an edge in securing his commitment.

Coach Freeman acknowledges the impact Fegans will leave behind.

“I wish I could have 100 of him before my coaching days are over,” Freeman confessed. “He’s one of the finest people I’ve ever coached. He’s always smiling, never been a problem, and is a leader on our team.”
