“Braves’ Playoff Hopes Twisted as Another Star Pitcher Falls to Long-Term Injury”
The Atlanta Braves continue to face a string of significant injuries. On Sunday evening, the team revealed that second baseman Ozzie Albies sustained a fractured wrist during their 6-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Albies is expected to be out for at least eight weeks, sidelining him for most of the remaining regular season.
The injury occurred in the ninth inning when Albies’ wrist was caught in a collision with Cardinals base-runner Michael Siani during a play at second base.
Although Albies was not having his best season, his absence is a major blow to a Braves lineup already missing outfielders Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuña Jr. The latter is out for the rest of the season and playoffs due to a torn ACL. Additionally, ace starter Spencer Strider is sidelined for the season following elbow surgery.

Despite these setbacks, the Braves remain in a solid playoff position in the National League. However, they may need to seek reinforcements at the trade deadline to bolster their chances in October.
Last season, Albies hit 33 home runs and drove in 109 runs across 148 games. This year, through 90 games, he has eight home runs, 46 RBIs, and a .717 OPS.
