Top Reliever’s Injury Scare Ends with Surprising Twist!”
The Seattle Mariners have been active recently, acquiring Yimi Garcia from the Toronto Blue Jays and Randy Arozarena from the Tampa Bay Rays. These trades have generated a lot of excitement, but it’s important to remember that the Mariners still have games ahead.
There’s good news regarding one of their top relievers, Gregory Santos, who left Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels with “sharp pain” in his right knee. According to a report by Adam Jude from the Seattle Times, Santos traveled with the team to Chicago and underwent an MRI, which came back “OK,” as confirmed by Mariners manager Scott Servais.
Santos is expected to test his knee with trainers before Friday’s game and could be available to pitch by Saturday. He missed the first 92 games of the season due to a right lat strain and made his debut for the team on July 9 against the San Diego Padres. Santos has since made four appearances, recording three strikeouts over four innings.
The Mariners have struggled with late-game leads recently, and left-handed reliever Gabe Speier has just returned to the lineup. Currently, they trail the Houston Astros by one game in the American League West and are looking to gain ground during their six-game road trip. With key players like Julio Rodriguez and JP Crawford on the injured list, another injury to Santos would be a significant setback. However, it seems the Mariners may have avoided another major issue with his knee.
