Since the arrival of head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff, Auburn football’s recruiting has reached a level not seen in years. Previously, recruiting in certain areas, like offensive linemen, had been in decline.
However, Freeze embraced the challenge, and the Tigers’ recruiting efforts have made significant strides, particularly with recent classes. They’ve adapted to modern recruiting challenges, including the transfer portal and NIL.
In 2024, Freeze and the Tigers secured a top 10 recruiting class, including one of the best groups of wide receivers in the program’s history. Now, their focus is on the 2025 class, which has the potential to be one of Auburn’s highest-ranked classes ever.
Freeze praised his recruiting staff for building strong relationships with prospects, but he also emphasized that Auburn’s appeal speaks for itself.
“I think we’ve been consistent with our message,” Freeze said, according to Auburn Rivals. “Our message is pretty simple: come and see. We believe Auburn offers a unique culture and environment. It may not be for everyone, but we think it’s different.”
The 2025 recruiting class currently includes 22 commits and is ranked in the top 10 overall. Many of these commits joined during or just after Big Cat Weekend, and momentum continues to build. With early signing day still months away, there’s time for more recruits to commit.
“I’m pleased with where we are,” Freeze said. “We’re in the top 10 nationally, and that’s where you need to be to compete. If we can add a few more targeted pieces, we’ll be able to build the ‘25 class on top of the solid ‘24 class. I’m pretty comfortable with where we are right now.”
