Breaking News: Blockbuster Deal Could Force All Star Forward To Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball program is focused on a rapid rebuild, aiming to become a contender in the 2024-25 season and beyond. Central to this goal is the recruitment of Trey McKenney, a highly sought-after 5-star guard from Flint, Michigan.

McKenney, a standout shooting guard from St. Mary’s High School, has attracted attention from some of the top basketball programs across the nation, and Notre Dame is keen to secure his commitment to boost their future prospects.

McKenney has emerged as one of the premier talents in the 2025 recruiting class, and his recruitment is highly competitive. The Fighting Irish are among a select group of programs vying for his services, and the ability to bring McKenney on board would significantly impact their trajectory. As part of his recruitment process, McKenney has announced a series of official visits to several top programs this fall, including Notre Dame.

Under the guidance of head coach Marcus Shrewsberry, Notre Dame will have the opportunity to showcase its program to McKenney during his visit in November. This visit is a critical chance for the Fighting Irish to make a strong impression on the elite guard. However, they will need to contend with a list of formidable competitors also in the mix.

McKenney’s schedule for the fall is packed with visits to various programs. His recruiting journey kicks off on September 1 with a visit to USC, one of Notre Dame’s rivals. He will then travel to see the Michigan Wolverines on September 21. The following month, McKenney will visit Michigan State on October 4 and Oregon on October 12. His busy schedule continues with a trip to Ohio State on October 26 before concluding with his Notre Dame visit on November 9. The final stop on his recruitment tour will be Creighton in Omaha on December 4.

While McKenney has not yet indicated when he will make his decision, the visits will provide a clearer picture of his interest in each program. Notre Dame’s ability to make a compelling case during his visit could be pivotal in determining their chances of landing this top recruit. The Fighting Irish will be closely monitoring McKenney’s feedback and interactions with their program as they seek to enhance their roster and build a competitive team for the future.
