The New Orleans Pelicans have added depth to their roster, signing veteran wing Javonte Green to a one-year deal. The news was reported on Tuesday by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. Green, a dynamic player known for his athleticism, versatility, and hustle, joins the Pelicans after an impressive stint with the Chicago Bulls.
“Free agent wing Javonte Green is finalizing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, per league sources. Strong addition for Pelicans’ depth as Green averaged 12.2 points in 25.6 minutes per night across nine games to close last season with the Bulls,” Charania shared.

Green, who has spent parts of five NBA seasons with the Bulls and Boston Celtics, brings experience and energy to the Pelicans’ rotation. Last season, although limited to just nine games due to injury, Green averaged 12.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting an impressive 60.0% from the field and 37.0% from beyond the arc. His production in limited minutes showcased his potential to make an impact off the bench.
His career-best performance came in April 2024 when he recorded 25 points and 13 rebounds, both career highs, in a victory for the Bulls. Green’s high motor and ability to score efficiently around the rim make him an ideal fit for a Pelicans team looking to improve on both ends of the court.
The 6’4″ wing has appeared in 195 NBA games, averaging 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 54.1% from the field and 34.5% from three-point range. He’s also made six playoff appearances, including a run with the Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals in 2020.
For the Pelicans, coming off a season where they finished eighth in the Western Conference with a 49-33 record, Green’s signing adds valuable depth. The Pelicans were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs last season, and they hope that Green’s versatility can help provide a spark for a deeper postseason run in 2024-25.
