The Milwaukee Bucks have had a relatively quiet offseason compared to some other NBA teams, but that doesn’t mean they’re done making moves. While they have signed players like Gary Trent Jr., Taurean Prince, and Delon Wright, none of these additions have created much buzz. However, the Bucks still have the opportunity to shake things up, especially in the trade market, and one intriguing target could be Chicago Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu.

Dalton Sell of *Behind the Buck Pass* recently suggested that Milwaukee should explore the possibility of acquiring Dosunmu. The 24-year-old guard is a rising star who offers exactly what the Bucks need—youth, athleticism, and defense. Dosunmu has shown flashes of brilliance during his young NBA career, and his versatile skill set would make him a valuable addition to Milwaukee’s roster.

“Youth, athleticism, scoring, shooting, playmaking, defense, and a reasonable contract: Ayo Dosunmu has it all in terms of what the Milwaukee Bucks should be searching for in any possible new addition,” Sell wrote. “There’s a reason he’s been linked to the team in so many mock trades and scenarios in their pursuit of more upgrades to the roster.”

One of Dosunmu’s biggest strengths is his defense. Standing at 6-foot-5 with a wingspan of 6-foot-10.25, Dosunmu possesses the physical tools necessary to be a disruptive force on the defensive end of the court. Despite his young age, he has already developed into a primary defender for the Bulls, regularly tasked with guarding the toughest opposing players.

Milwaukee, which finished the 2023-24 NBA season ranked just 21st in points allowed per game (116.1), could certainly use a defensive-minded guard like Dosunmu. He would provide a much-needed boost on that end of the floor while also adding playmaking and athleticism to the Bucks’ backcourt.

While Dosunmu isn’t known for his scoring, his potential is undeniable. The former Illinois Fighting Illini standout still has room to grow and develop, especially at just 24 years old. The Bucks could provide the perfect environment for him to take the next step in his career.

In addition to his talent, Dosunmu’s contract is also very appealing. He signed a three-year, $21 million deal with the Bulls in 2023, and he’s set to earn $7 million for the 2024-25 season, with a slight increase to $7.518 million in the 2025-26 campaign. This reasonable salary makes him an affordable option for the Bucks as they look to stay competitive while managing their payroll.

For Milwaukee, acquiring Dosunmu could be the kind of under-the-radar move that pays off in a big way. He fits the mold of what the Bucks need—defense, youth, and athleticism—and he could play a key role in helping the team contend for another championship.
