Knicks Star Drops Bombshell About His Future with the Team
Anyone examining the New York Knicks offseason moves will quickly see their commitment to pursuing a championship with their current roster.
The team’s dedication to winning this season is evident. Despite the high cost of acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets, fans are thrilled about his addition to the squad.
Furthermore, the Knicks are actively seeking to bolster their lineup, with rumors linking them to notable center Brook Lopez, underscoring their serious approach to capitalizing on their championship window.
However, their search for a center also raises questions about Julius Randle’s future with the team. The Knicks have long been rumored to be looking to trade Randle, which affects his trade value.
Recent updates have confirmed what Knicks fans suspected: Randle is considered highly tradeable. NBA insider Brian Windhorst recently reported on The Hoops Collective that the team is open to offers for the 29-year-old forward.
According to Antonio Losada of Posting & Toasting:
“Randle earns a significant $29 million, with a player option for $31 million next season. If he performs at his best, he could potentially opt out and seek more.”
Windhorst also cautioned that the Knicks must be strategic in crafting a trade package for Randle, as he will likely demand a substantial return:
“Randle is eligible for a four-year, $181 million extension—not the maximum, but still a considerable amount. The Knicks need to manage their salary commitments carefully, especially with other contracts like Anunoby’s and future extensions for players like Mikal Bridges.”
Randle’s high earning potential is justified by his performance. Although he played just 46 games last season, he averaged 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
If the Knicks can attract a team eager to trade for a reliable big man, they might leverage Randle’s value to secure a favorable deal.
