Arkansas Wide Receiver Out 4-6 Weeks for Failing to Meet Team Expectations

During his Monday press conference, Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman announced that wide receiver Dazmin James will be suspended for the team’s Week 3 game against the UAB Blazers. The suspension, Pittman explained, is due to a “violation of team rules.” He clarified that James, a redshirt freshman, would be eligible to return for the Razorbacks’ Week 4 matchup.

Although James has not yet made an offensive appearance this season, he did contribute on special teams during the Razorbacks’ season-opening victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. His limited involvement on offense means his absence should not significantly affect Arkansas’ game plan for the upcoming game against UAB, aside from a reduction in the depth of the receiver corps.

James joined Arkansas in 2023 as a three-star recruit from Clayton High School in North Carolina, where he had a notable senior year with 43 receptions for 601 yards and five touchdowns. While his college career is still in its formative stages, there is potential for him to become a more prominent part of the Razorbacks’ offense as he gains experience.

The suspension means that James will miss the game against UAB, scheduled for September 14 at 4:15 p.m. ET at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. However, he will be available to return for the Razorbacks’ conference opener against the Auburn Tigers on September 21 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

For the Razorbacks, the focus now shifts to preparing for UAB without James, as they look to continue their strong start to the season. The team will need to adjust their strategies and rotations to compensate for the loss of depth in the receiver position, but they remain optimistic about their prospects in the upcoming game.
