Avalanche Secure Future: Key Player Signs Multi-Year Contract Extension Worth Millions!
The Colorado Avalanche announced on Monday that they have signed Logan O’Connor to a six-year contract extension valued at $15 million, keeping the forward with the team through the 2030-31 season.
Hockey insider Frank Seravalli later confirmed that O’Connor will earn $3 million in both the first and third years of the deal, which consists entirely of salary without a signing bonus. The contract includes a limited no-trade clause, initially allowing him to veto trades to six teams, which will decrease to four teams in the final season.
O’Connor, 28, recorded 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in 57 games during the regular season. He struggled with a hip injury that required surgery in March, sidelining him for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
Over his six seasons in the NHL, O’Connor has accumulated 35 goals and 47 assists for 82 points in 263 regular-season games, along with one goal and four assists in 31 playoff appearances. He was part of the Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup in 2021.
Originally from Missouri City, Texas, O’Connor grew up in Calgary after his father, Miles, retired from professional hockey. He opted for a college route, playing two seasons with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL before joining the University of Denver Pioneers, where he contributed to their 2017 NCAA National Championship win. O’Connor signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Avalanche after impressing at their training camp before his senior year.
