Collingwood loss Key Player

In summary, Collingwood will be without both Jordan De Goey and Mason Cox for the next month due to ongoing injury issues. Scans have confirmed that De Goey has an “abdominal tendon tear,” while Cox is dealing with a knee injury sustained during Friday’s match against Fremantle.

Looking ahead, De Goey is currently undergoing rehabilitation and is projected to return in three to four weeks. Meanwhile, Cox is expected to be out for about six weeks.

The reigning premiers are facing significant challenges with their injury toll. However, versatile player Jeremy Howe (groin) and Jack Bytel (concussion) are anticipated to be available for the upcoming clash against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night, pending their performance at Wednesday’s training session.

De Goey missed the recent match due to “groin awareness” noted in round 10, and further evaluation revealed his abdominal tendon injury. The club stated that he is focused on recovery and should be back within three to four weeks.

Cox suffered a concussion during the game and also twisted his knee, leading to a Grade 2 medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury. He is expected to miss approximately six weeks as he rehabilitates.

Additionally, Brody Mihocek has re-injured his hamstring and will be sidelined for three to five weeks, while breakout player Joe Richards has a metatarsal fracture and is expected to be out for four to five weeks.

Forward Jamie Elliott continues to follow a modified training plan due to a vascular issue and hopes to return within two to five weeks. Tom Mitchell (plantar fasciitis) is on a similar timeline, and Will Hoskin-Elliott (hamstring) is expected to be back in about two weeks.
