“Julius Randle Takes Subtle Shot at Knicks with ‘Wanted’ Remark After Shocking Trade”
Julius Randle, after giving his “blood, sweat, and tears” for the Knicks, was surprised by the trade to the Timberwolves. However, he quickly embraced his new team, describing it as a “breath of fresh air.”
“It’s really important to feel wanted, and I definitely feel that here,” Randle shared. “Everyone has embraced me.”
Randle spent five up-and-down seasons with the Knicks, evolving into the team’s best player since Carmelo Anthony, earning three All-Star nods and climbing to 17th on the all-time scoring list. However, with an extension not on the horizon and concerns about his fit alongside Jalen Brunson, the Knicks traded him and Donte DiVincenzo for Karl-Anthony Towns.
Reflecting on the trade, Randle admitted it was an emotional moment after investing so much into the Knicks, but he quickly found excitement in the move. He was also thrilled to reunite with Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, who coached him in New Orleans in 2018-19. Randle praised Finch for simplifying his game and helping him become a more versatile player.
Meanwhile, DiVincenzo, who played just one season with the Knicks and was beloved by fans, expressed gratitude for his time in New York but is eager to contribute to Minnesota.
Randle reassured fans that his surgically repaired shoulder is healthy and hinted at his desire to stay with the Timberwolves beyond this season.
