Ohio State recruit Eddrick Houston shares the narrative behind his last…
The Ohio State Buckeyes have experienced some memorable moments during the 2024 recruiting cycle. From Jeremiah Smith’s decision prompting coach Ryan Day to humorously feign fainting at the podium during a media session, to the Armstrong twins’ commitment to the offensive line, there’s been plenty of excitement.

Now, adding another chapter to the story is 2024 four-star EDGE recruit Eddrick Houston from Buford (Georgia), who recently revealed in an interview with Eleven Warriors the details of his decision to sign with Ohio State on December 20th.
“It was crazy because I had to sign (my National Letter of Intent) too and I heard (Day) was in the middle of an interview,” Houston shared with Eleven Warriors in an exclusive interview.
“So, I didn’t want to interrupt. But my high school coach called him up while I was walking to the podium and let him know that I was going to stick with Ohio State.” Despite receiving offers from programs like Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, USC, Florida State, and others, Houston remained committed to OSU since August 22, 2023.
Before Nick Saban’s retirement, 247Sports had made multiple predictions for Alabama to secure Houston, but the Buckeyes ultimately emerged victorious even before the Tide’s change in head coach.
“It was definitely hard,” Houston admitted. “Just thinking about all the things that could have gone wrong. But at the same time, in the last 24 hours, I had to turn off my phone because I was receiving so many calls. However, when I got to Signing Day, I knew in my heart where I wanted to go. And I stuck with it.”
