Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Reveals Crucial Injury Update on Star Infielder Ahead of World Series
The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up for the World Series, and manager Dave Roberts provided some key injury updates during a Zoom call on Tuesday. With the Dodgers set to face the New York Yankees in Game 1 on Friday, several players are making strides toward a return, but questions remain around others.
First baseman Freddie Freeman, who has been a cornerstone of the lineup, is expected to be ready for action come Game 1. Roberts expressed confidence that Freeman, a leader both on and off the field, will be in the starting lineup despite some concerns earlier in the postseason.
Meanwhile, infielder Gavin Lux, who has been dealing with a nagging hip flexor injury that limited him during the NLCS, is also on track for a full return. Roberts seemed optimistic about Lux’s availability, stating, “Come Friday he should be a full go.” Lux’s limited availability opened up playing time for Chris Taylor, who capitalized on the opportunity, hitting 3-for-7 with two runs and a stolen base against the New York Mets.
On the other hand, the status of shortstop Miguel Rojas remains uncertain. Rojas has been sidelined since the NLDS due to an adductor strain, and while he’s made progress, Roberts made it clear that his availability for the World Series is still up in the air. “He’s made some strides… but we still have to be certain that he can run, he can defend the way he can,” Roberts said.
Rojas’s potential absence could open the door for more playing time for Tommy Edman, who earned NLCS MVP honors, and Kiké Hernandez, who has a history of postseason heroics. With both players excelling in the playoffs, it may be tough for Rojas to secure a roster spot even if he is cleared to play.
As the Dodgers look to capture another championship, the health and availability of key players will be a major factor in their quest for a World Series title. All eyes will be on Roberts and his decisions regarding the lineup as Game 1 approaches.
