Ex-Sydney Ruckman Joins Local Footy Club with AFL Veterans.

Former Sydney Ruckman Cameron Owen Joins Frankston YCW for 2025 Season

Cameron Owen, the 204cm ruckman who spent 2023 with the Sydney Swans, has signed with Victorian local club Frankston YCW for the 2025 season.

Owen, who was delisted by the Swans last year, had a solid stint with Footscray in the VFL, playing 10 games in 2024. He averaged 5.7 disposals, 13.5 hitouts, and kicked a goal every other game. The Tasmanian talent also featured in Footscray’s finals campaign, including a standout performance in the qualifying final against Brisbane.

Before his time at Footscray, Owen played for the Tasmania Devils in the U17s and U18s, making a name for himself as a strong and skilled ruckman. At Frankston YCW, Owen will join fellow recruits, ex-Essendon forward Ned Cahill and former Brisbane-listed Mitch Cox.

The Stonecats are coming off a third-place finish in the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League (MPFNL), and Owen’s arrival adds a powerful presence to their lineup as they look to build on last season’s success.
