Sanders was carted off the field during the first half of the Panthers’ Week 12 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, following a brutal hit that left him down for several minutes. The 6’4”, 248-pound tight end took a flip after being hit by two Chiefs defenders, landing awkwardly on the crown of his head, with 26 seconds left in the second quarter. “Obviously, anytime there’s a neck injury, it can be scary,” reflected Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard, who witnessed the play. “I saw the play. Obviously praying for him, he is a great guy.”

Young, who has developed a close bond with Sanders since their time together in Carolina, continued to praise his teammate’s character. “JT, obviously, he’s done a lot of great things on the field and worked super hard, but he’s an even better person,” Young said. “Someone that we all love in the locker room, all respect, how hard he works.
